Organ Function Support (CRT3)
The mission of CRT3 is to deliver materiel and knowledge products that enhance Soldier survival at point of injury and during prolonged care outside of hospitals. Focus is on mitigation of organ dysfunction resulting from traumatic injury sustained during Large-Scale Combat Operations.

Highlighted Major Capabilities
- Combat-relevant research trauma models
- Full round-the-clock intensive care unit studies continuing for 72 hours
- State of the art critical care equipment
- State of the art anticoagulation equipment and monitoring
- State of the art immunomodulation assessment capabilities
- Damage-Associated Molecular Pattern and Pathogen-Associated Molecular Pattern - assessment and histopathology
2035 "paradigm-changing" efforts include:
- Biologically friendly partial organ support
- Wearable critical care and full multi-organ support platform for conscious ambulation without mechanical ventilation
While moving toward these goals:
- Simplified field deployable lung and renal support without heparin administration
- Avoid mechanical ventilation; oxygenate and ventilate the blood without thrombotic complications
